Sister's Itinerary

September-November, 1999

England to The Canaries

We're starting to get significant miles under our keel

We're really condensing a lot here.  As you can see this represents two months of cruising.
After crossing the Bay of Biscay we made landfall in Bayonne, Spain where we stayed a few days.  We spent most of the rest of this time in various big and small ports in Portugal and enjoyed it very much.
Madeira, with it's vertical cliffs, verdant green hillsides and wonderful people was probably the highest of the many highlights of this segment.
We had planned to sail to Gibraltar but decided to drive there instead.  We rented a car in Lagos, Portugal and drove across southwestern Spain about 8 hours to see the Rock.  It was well worth the trip.
